Meet the Expert

Stephanie Welch,
Interior Designer

Early work for Stephanie began as a Prop Stylist for TV commercials which eventually led to studying Interior Design in College. She was heavily influenced by her family roots, as most of the women in her family were designers in some capacity or another.  Her passion for design runs deep and there was never a question about her career aspirations.

Her signature style is casual luxury and she loves incorporating a variety of design styles to keep spaces interesting and timeless. She’s a big believer that homeowners should never be the oldest thing in the house and she’s never met an antique store she didn’t love. Creating beautiful spaces, for her clients to love where they live is her speciality. Stephanie resides in Phoenix, Arizona with her Husband, Son and French Bulldogs, Lulu and Ruby. Her work has been featured on HGTV and Houzz.

Stephanie's Tips

Layer Textures & Natural Elements:

Using natural elements in your decor helps warm up the space. In this living room,  we’ve decorated with natural woven baskets, a marble coffee table and concrete tile.

By using a mix of materials and layering accents, we’ve created a casual, lived in, feel. Baskets are also super functional for extra throw blankets and pillows, storage doesn’t always have to be boring!

White Walls:

Don’t be afraid to use a light color on your walls! By doing so, you let your decor and textiles shine. There is a big misconception about white walls, people think they are too stark or feel like hospital room, but when you go light on the walls, you can have more fun with color and pattern elsewhere.

Having a neutral base allows all your other pieces to stand out, but if it still feels too stark, add a painted accent wall or have fun with wallpaper!

High Contrast:

When in doubt with your color scheme just remember high contrast will always be in style. We’ve paired a light gray sofa with some blue velvet lounge chairs for the perfect punch of color.

On that note, furniture look best when arranged as separates and not in a set. It’s tempting to go buy the matching set from a big box store, but  it feels so much more personalized and visually appealing when your pieces don’t all match.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When will I get my keys?

You will receive your keys from your Sales Associate once the closing documents have been properly recorded by the county and funding is received from your mortgage lender (see Purchase Agreement).

  • When should utilities be turned on in my new home?

Power and water are shut off to the home three (3) days after closing. Please make arrangements to have services transferred to your name as soon as you have closed. Many utility companies will allow you to schedule your turn on date in advance.

  • What should I do about arranging telephone, cable and internet service?

The local phone, cable, and internet companies provide these services. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to have these services ordered and started after closing.

  • How does the process work?

Selecting a home with Joseph Carl Homes is very simple. Pick a location, pick the community, call to set up a tour, get pre-qualified, select your home, sign the contract, complete the building and mortgage process, and finally move into the home! The Joseph Carl Homes’ sales team is ready now to help you pick your future home.

  • How does the home warranty work?

Before you close on your home you will do a Pre Close Orientation (PCO) with members of the Joseph Carl team. Approximately year after closing, our customer service team will follow up with you to answer any questions you might have. Cosmetics items have a 1 year warranty. Scratches and dents need to be reported by submitting the Customer Service Form to your Sales Associate within 10 days of PCO. Home systems will be covered for 2 years from the close of escrow. Structural systems will be covered for 10 years from close of escrow. In addition, Joseph Carl Homes will purchase a home warranty for each home through 2-10 Home Warranty® at the closing of every home.
